Health insurance is a contract between you and your insurance company. You buy a plan, and the company agrees to pay part of your medical costs when you get ill. However, it’s not really that simple. You need to consider what is right for you and your family, your out-of-pocket costs and your monthly premium. Health policies provide free preventive care, such as; vaccines, screenings, and check-ups. They also cover some expenses for prescription drugs and mental health.

SHORT-TERM MEDICAL INSURANCE – TEMPORARY COVERAGE
Short-term policies are a good option for people who are between jobs or waiting for a new employer’s coverage to become effective. Unlike regular individual major medical plans, short-term health insurance policies are not regulated by the Affordable Care Act and their sale is not limited to open enrollment windows. Short-term major medical plans may be a great fit for healthy individuals, who just need temporary coverage. Short-term plans weren’t designed to cover everything, and they do not provide coverage for preexisting conditions.

Dental insurance pays a portion of costs associated with preventive, basic, and some major dental care. Dental plans can include coverage for preventive care like routine exams, cleanings, and X-rays, and pay 50-80% of basic and major care. See Terminology for definitions and details.
